Travis Underwood joined Optimae Behavioral Health Services in 2018, bringing with him five years of experience in the mental health field.
Travis most recently worked as a therapist at Capstone Behavioral Healthcare in Newton, where he saw individuals, families and groups as an outpatient mental health therapist. He has also served in various roles at Ottumwa Regional Health Center and Southern Iowa Mental Health Center, as well as Bridgeway.
His treatment approach includes cognitive behavioral therapy, solution-focused, client-centered therapy, motivational interviewing, EMDR, dialectal behavioral therapy and Adlerian play therapy. Travis works with individuals of all ages but especially enjoys working with adolescents and adults. His areas of interest include depression, anxiety and adjustment issues.
Travis earned his master’s degree in social work from St. Ambrose University and his bachelor’s degree in social work from Western Illinois University.
