Krista Johnson is a board-certified psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner (PMHNP-BC) at Optimae Behavioral Health Services in the southeast Iowa region. As a prescriber, she provides medication management for children ages 6 and up, adolescents and adults.

Krista’s experience includes clinical, educational and health care administration, having served various hospitals, clinics and health centers in southeastern, central and northern Iowa.

As a psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner, Krista focuses on providing holistic, customer-centered care that respects the dignity and individuality of each person. She believes in empowering patients through collaborative partnerships, focusing on recovery and reducing stigma.

In her practice, Krista specializes in assisting individuals with depression, anxiety, mood disorders, attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD).

By integrating evidence-based practices, Krista strives to support the mental, emotional and social well-being of those she serves, fostering environments where individuals can thrive and achieve their personal health goals.

Krista earned her LPN and associate degrees in nursing from Indian Hills Community College. She holds a master’s degree in nursing education from Walden University and a psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner post-master’s certificate from Allen College.

Krista serves customers from the Des Moines metro, Fairfield, Iowa City, Mt. Pleasant, Ottumwa and Washington.
