Denise Stutes brings more than a decade of experience to her position as a therapist and clinical supervisor for Optimae Behavioral Health Services in Southeastern Iowa. She has also served as a member of the crisis assessment team and Optimae’s advisory board. As clinical supervisor, Denise oversees the Des Moines County and Lee County offices and Optimae’s crisis programs. She also provides lead clinical support to Optimae’s Recovery & Resource Centers.
Denise spent her career prior to Optimae as a domestic violence advocate and an adjunct instructor in sociology at Southeastern Community College. She also worked in an inpatient medical environment including emergency room, critical care, medical/surgical, pediatrics, psychiatry, oncology and obstetrics. Denise also provided mental health services for 12 years to inmates in corrections facilities, which included the Des Moines County and Lee County jails.
Denise graduated from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign School of Social Work. She was the graduating class speaker and recipient of the Shirley Wattenberg scholarship.
