Hannah Mattingly, tLMHC, (they/them/their) serves as a clinical mental health counselor at Optimae Behavioral Health Services. Their clinical work has centered on supporting LGBTQIA+ adults, individuals with disabilities and people navigating a wide range of mental health challenges including eating disorders, mood disorders, dissociative disorders and personality disorders. Prior to entering the counseling field, Hannah worked in human services as a job coach and crisis counselor, which continues to inform their collaborative and strength-based approach.

Hannah’s counseling style is deeply person-centered, grounded in the belief that each person is the expert of their own life. They strive to create a safe, affirming and culturally humble space where individuals can explore their identities, build confidence in their abilities and move toward meaningful change. Hannah views mental health challenges as understandable responses to the systems and environments people live within and works alongside the individual to recognize their strengths, reclaim personal agency and navigate those systems with greater empowerment.

Hannah is a passionate advocate for LGBTQIA+ individuals and other marginalized communities and is committed to providing inclusive, affirming care that honors each person’s lived experience. Their work is rooted in the belief that people thrive when they are met with respect, cultural humility and the freedom to define their own stories.

Hannah earned their Master of Arts in clinical mental health counseling and their Bachelor of Fine Arts in art, with an emphasis in printmaking, from the University of Iowa. Hannah is also completing post-graduate clinical experience under the guidance of Optimae’s clinical supervisory team, including Denise Stutes, LISW; Suzanna Mullenneaux, LMHC; and Stephanie Baumhover, LISW.
