Teresa Seward joined Optimae in 2016, bringing nearly 40 years of experience in clinical social work with her. She primarily serves adult clients in the Jasper County area out of the Newton office, using dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) and cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) techniques.
Her work history includes serving on the crisis team at Broadlawns Medical Center, then as intake coordinator for Broadlawns’ psychiatric outpatient clinic. Upon relocating to western North Carolina, she provided individual, family and group therapy at Trend Mental Health Center. During her last 15 years in North Carolina, she served as clinical supervisor and mental health clinician on the psych and detox unit of Margaret Pardee Hospital in Hendersonville while owning and operating a private practice.
Teresa earned a Bachelor of Science degree in child development from Iowa State University and received her Master in Social Work (MSW) from the University of Iowa. Prior to obtaining her MSW, she served as director of Jasper County Youth Shelter and taught Head Start in Jasper County.
